The Wickham family is a lower class family likely native to Derbyshire. They appear to be on the threshold of upward mobility, but ultimately George Wickham proves to be the villain of the novel and drags them back down the social ladder.
Members of the Wickham family discussed or featured in the novel include:
- Mr. Wickham Senior, steward of Pemberley House
- His wife, Mrs. Wickham
- Their son, George Wickham, who later joins the militia
We are lead to believe that Wickham Senior and his son are both quite well liked by Mr. Darcy Senior, who likely gives them tremendous access to Pemberley and the other trappings of upper class life.
